NURS FPX 4025 Assessment 1: Analysis of Article

In NURS FPX 4025 assessment 1, Brennan and colleagues (2024) involved a qualitative systematic review to give recommendations regarding the use of beta-blockers in patients with acute decompensated heart failure. This paper is a systematic review as it examines evidence-based academic literatures within stipulated duration and analyzes the findings to make a conclusion. The review comprises randomized control trials and other types of studies so it has level 1.b level. There are various reasons which make the article under consideration a credible one. In analyzing a research paper, an article was published in the Ochsner Journal, which is a peer-reviewed academic journal. The authors of the developed article also used 30 academic articles to corroborate their discussion and arguments. This article has been published in September of 2024, making it relevant, because it is not even a year old.

In their research paper, Brennan and others (2024) write about the use of beta-blockers in patients with heart failure (reduced ejection fraction) who were admitted with acute decompensated heart disease. The researchers also recognize that the use of beta-blockers among heart failure patients is high in general but among those hospitalized due to acute decompensated heart failure, it is low (Brennan et al., 2024). In this NURS FPX 4025 assessment 1, through the article by Brennan and co-authors, a systematic review of studies from 2004 to 2024 was analyzed. The authors concluded that both the continuation and initiation of beta-blocker treatment in patients with acute decompensated heart failure led to positive patient outcomes (Brennan et al., 2024). This example of a research paper recommends an evidence-based guideline flowchart to help providers decide when to continue and when to initiate beta-blockers in patients with decompensated heart failure. This research paper improves information that could be used to clarify the inpatient treatment recommendations in a patient with reduced

ejection fraction heart failure hospitalized with acute decompensated heart failure. The given beta-blocker guidelines have the potential to alter patient outcomes and reduce total hospitalizations among this patient group (Brennan et al., 2024).

Special applicability of the article is to diagnosis of heart failure. It directly analyzes pharmacological recommendations that influence the prognoses of patients with chaotic hearts, the specific setting being the inpatient one. By analyzing a research paper, it highlights the significance of beta-blocker therapy in patients with heart failures, retention of therapeutic dose of beta-blocker medications during hospital stay and show improvement adhering patient outcomes when treated with the beta-blocker medication in patients admitted with acute decompensatory heart failure. The data presented in this article can guide nurses caring for patients in this group to understand the significance of medication adherence and to consider the importance of not discontinuing beta-blockers, as discussed in NURS FPX 4025 assessment 1.
